ANDREA RODRIGUEZ

West New York Family Portrait Session

They say the third time’s the charm. And it was definitely the case in this situation. I had scheduled an early-morning family session for Kate, Olu and their beautiful, two-year-old daughter Lucy on two different dates before and each day, we’d woken up to grey skies and the pitter patter of rain. This past Sunday, however, our luck finally changed and we were rewarded with a beautiful, cool summer morning. We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather! Like Kate so accurately stated towards the end of the session, it was definitely worth the wait.

One of the awesome parts about doing outdoor photography is traveling to where my #ARfamilies and #ARcouples are located and discovering new places to shoot, and this session was a wonderful opportunity for me to do that. I woke up on Sunday morning, hopped on a ferry, and traveled across the Hudson River in order to meet this amazing family near their home in the remarkably charming neighborhood of West New York. We agreed to meet right along the water for the session, overlooking the City, hoping to get some shots of all three of them with the NYC skyline. There are a few cute playgrounds along the water as well, and Kate wanted to take Lucy to one of their favorite playgrounds for some photos of her there just being her cute, playful self. There’s something about shooting in a place that has a special meaning to my #ARfamilies (or #ARcouples!) that just makes shooting there feel extra special.

But what was the best part of this session…? Getting to work with Kate, Olu, and Lucy, and being able to create images for them that they will treasure forever. I truly believe in the long-lasting bonds of a family, and I couldn’t help but smile as I captured firsthand the unity that they share and the love that they have for each other. It just jumps out of every single image! They’re such a cute family, and you can tell from a mile away how much they care for each other and how grateful they are to have each other in their lives.

During the entire session, Lucy was just full of smiles! I dare you to look at the following photographs and not smile after seeing so much cuteness. I promise you, you won’t be able to help it! 😉
