Lauren + Shakir | Engaged | Central Park Engagement Session

NYC had its first snow day of the year a little over a week ago. (It’s mid-December! Isn’t that just crazy!?). It snowed non-stop all day that Saturday, and it was FABULOUS!

I love snow. There’s something about seeing snow fall (and seeing the ground covered in white right after!) that sparks some holiday cheer in me and makes me beyond excited. I was even more excited knowing that the next day I had an engagement photo session scheduled, and there’d be beautiful snow in Central Park to serve as an incredible backdrop for all of the images.

I met Lauren and Shakir for their New York City engagement photo session by The Mall at Central Park. They’ve been engaged since last summer, but wanted to do some photos around this time of year. “It’s a Winter Wonderland!,” Lauren exclaimed a few minutes into their session after I showed her the back of my camera so that she could see some of the images I has just taken. And it truly was. The ground, the trees (even the benches!) were covered in snow, and it was BEAUTIFUL!

I shot some gorgeous images of the couple in a few spots around The Mall, including Bethesda Terrace and the Bow Bridge (two must-visit locations if you’re shooting portraits – or just hanging out – in the area). Despite them claiming they weren’t too comfortable in front of the camera, they did such an amazing job interacting together, following my directions and playing along with all of my crazy antics. [Side note: I still feel slightly mortified whenever I think about that moment I exclaimed “I like that A-LO[T]’ ” in a Jim Carrey voice (à la ‘Dumb and Dumber’). Luckily, most of my lame jokes (like this one!) usually make my couples laugh and bring out their natural smiles.]

It’s always such an honor for me capturing these special moments in my couples’ lives and preserving the memories of those months leading up to their wedding day. (This is definitely one of the many reasons why I love shooting engagement sessions in NYC!) Nothing is more rewarding for me than knowing my couples have entrusted me with capturing their engagement photos or their wedding day. I feel incredibly thankful every day to have the opportunity to serve my couples while doing what I love.

So without further ado, here are a few images from that afternoon in Central Park! Enjoy these Winter Wonderland photos of this lovely couple!
