A couple of weeks ago, I packed my camera bag and made my way to The Plaza Hotel in NYC. I was shooting some lifestyle portraits for Jenn on a cold but quiet Monday afternoon. We’d been trying to get these portraits done for a few months, and I was so glad that we finally had a day when our schedules aligned and we could get together for her photos.
We met at the Guerlain Spa on the 4th floor of The Plaza, where she was getting her makeup done by the talented makeup artist, Marilyn. After her makeup was done, we proceeded to take some photos in a couple of spots around the Shops at The Plaza. The security guards were even nice enough to let us shoot in certain areas closer to the hotel lobby, where all kinds of photography is generally strictly prohibited.
I don’t generally shoot portraits indoor (unless it’s on a wedding day). But when this gorgeous lady contacted me and asked me to capture some lifestyle portraits of her inside The Plaza Hotel in NYC, I just couldn’t say no. The Plaza’s such an iconic and stunning NYC building. It’s one of those places that embodies elegance, timelessness, and sophistication. And I just CAN’T WAIT for the day when I get to shoot a wedding there. 🤩 (Anyone? 🙋🏻 Anyone? 😬 Lol)
But, seriously, guys… this was a fun experience, which also allowed me to push my camera to its limits to see what it can do in low light situations without breaking out a flash. And it didn’t disappoint. I’m so happy by how these photos turned out. Here are just a few of my favorite shots!
